BioModelos
BETTER MODELS WITH SUPPORT FROM EXPERTS

BioModelos is a digital tool designed to promote collaboration among biodiversity experts in the development of species distribution models in an open, participatory, and transparent manner. Originally developed in Colombia, this initiative seeks to bring together researchers, government institutions, non-governmental organizations, and citizens in the collective construction of scientifically validated information on species distributions, thereby strengthening the knowledge base needed for research, environmental management, and conservation decision-making. In Chile, the BioData team of the Institute of Ecology and Biodiversity has implemented BioModelos-CL, an adaptation of the platform aimed at activating a community of specialists dedicated to developing and validating distribution models for species occurring within the national territory, fostering scientific collaboration and data interoperability across the country.
